14 March 2006Editor's Notes:FN's resources began by following the telltale trail of the Cassini-Plutonium flyby of Earth. Documents showed US plans to dominate the world by taking the "higher ground" militarily, controlling space and all below. It is a plan doomed for failure like Empires before, overextending its reach in hubris, arrogance, greed, fear, and ignorance. Already by exploiting nature and the burning of fossil fuels, humans have reversed the powers of balance and harmony, causing planeticide, killing our planet. From the loss of CO2 sinks (from deforestation), and from the overload of what has already been released into our atmosphere, it will require a miracle for humankind to survive this Century. We neglected to learn from our past, and what had made Mars and Venus end up with above 95% CO2 concentration in their atmospheres. Was it more important to reach Saturn to study origins of life before learning to sustain an ecosystem on Earth?
Yet even if we don't have the power and wisdom for survival in this Century, we could at least achieve integrity in the evolution of self-government. Senator Russ Feingold, in calling for the censure of President Bush, has taken a leadership role for a possible return to a legitimate and responsible US government. His actions have received immense support from ordinary people, and disdain from those making believe that a fascist government will protect them. Please, not only support Censure, but also the longer process for
reclaiming a lost USA democracy. Part of your taking strategic actions may be in asking Senator Feingold to help develop a succession plan. For what likely happened to Senator Paul Wellstone was no accident. A plan in place to respond to another assassination, will not only help the movement of integrity, but also enable our outlasting those in charge for terror. Perhaps, too, such a plan will limit the chances of another such tragic assassination.
Only by changing the old guard now in control of Congress, will justice and democracy and principles of the Republic in the USA prevail. The big elephant in the living room is 9/11. So, again, this issue provides more resources and proof of controlled demolition and scholars claiming how the stand-down orders by Dick Cheney allowed the attack on the Pentagon building. I recently watched the Loose Change DVD on 9/11, and highly recommend it. Please get extra copies of this film, too, and help reach critical mass for awareness. The truth will set us free. And while Chernobyl's 20th anniversary comes into focus, we can see the reality that if we don't take a stand now, our death will come much too quickly, and long lasting in contrast to the beauty of creation and nature.
Since miracles exist (even in the humility of our sharing life at all), we have an opportunity to stand up to our fear, and make choices based on love. This is the time to go the distance, to make such an effort, at least until the ending/beginning of the
25,800 year Mayan calendar cycle, December 21, 2012. Old measures may again come into the forefront, and age-old wisdom may prevail. No one really knows what will happen; anything is possible, as life, creation, and love, are one.
The spirit of democracy cannot be imposed from without.
It has to come from within.

as Arctic sea ice fails to re-form

Sea ice in the Arctic has failed to re-form for the second consecutive winter, raising fears that global warming may have tipped the polar regions in to irreversible climate change far sooner than predicted.
Satellite measurements of the area of the Arctic covered by sea ice show that for every month this winter, the ice failed to return even to its long-term average rate of decline. It is the second consecutive winter that the sea ice has not managed to re-form enough to compensate for the unprecedented melting seen during the past few summers.
Scientists are now convinced that Arctic sea ice is showing signs of both a winter and a summer decline that could indicate a major acceleration in its long-term rate of disappearance. The greatest fear is that an environmental "positive feedback" has kicked in, where global warming melts ice which in itself causes the seas to warm still further as more sunlight is absorbed by a dark ocean rather than being reflected by white ice.

Mr. President, when the President of the United States breaks the law, he must be held accountable. That is why today I am introducing a resolution to censure President George W. Bush.
The President authorized an illegal program to spy on American citizens on American soil, and then misled Congress and the public about the existence and legality of that program. It is up to this body to reaffirm the rule of law by condemning the President's actions.
All of us in this body took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and bear true allegiance to the same. Fulfilling that oath requires us to speak clearly and forcefully when the President violates the law. This resolution allows us to send a clear message that the President's conduct was wrong.
And we must do that. The President's actions demand a formal judgment from Congress.
The facts are straightforward: Congress passed the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, known as "FISA", nearly 30 years ago to ensure that as we wiretap suspected terrorists and spies, we also protect innocent Americans from unjustified government intrusion. FISA makes it a crime to wiretap Americans on U.S. soil without the requisite warrants, and the President has ordered warrantless wiretaps of Americans on U.S. soil. The President has broken that law, and that alone is unacceptable. But the President did much more than that.
Not only did the President break the law, he also actively misled Congress and the American people about his actions, and then, when the program was made public, about the legality of the NSA program.
He has fundamentally violated the trust of the American people.
Most troubling of all, the President himself participated in this disinformation campaign. In the State of the Union address, he implied that the program was necessary because otherwise the government would be unable to wiretap terrorists at all. That is simply untrue. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. You don't need a warrant to wiretap terrorists overseas period. You do need a warrant to wiretap Americans on American soil and Congress passed FISA specifically to lay out the rules for these types of domestic wiretaps.
A formal censure by Congress is an appropriate and responsible first step to assure the public that when the President thinks he can violate the law without consequences, Congress has the will to hold him accountable. If Congress does not reaffirm the rule of law, we will create another failure of leadership, and deal another blow to the public's trust.
The President's wrongdoing demands a response. And not just a response that prevents wrongdoing in the future, but a response that passes judgment on what has happened. We in the Congress bear the responsibility to check a President who has violated the law, who continues to violate the law, and who has not been held accountable for his actions.
Passing a resolution to censure the President is a way to hold this President accountable.
The Constitution looks to the Congress to right the balance of power. The American people look to us to take action, to speak out, with one clear voice, against wrongdoing by the President of the United States. In our system of government, no one, not even the President, is above the law.

WASHINGTON -- The Pentagon is asking Congress for hundreds of millions of dollars to test weapons in space, marking the biggest step toward creating a space battlefield since President Reagan's long-defunct "star wars" project during the Cold War, according to federal budget documents.
The Defense Department's budget proposal for the fiscal year beginning Oct. 1 includes money for a variety of tests on offensive and defensive weapons, including a missile launched at a small satellite in orbit, testing a small space vehicle that could disperse weapons while traveling at 20 times the speed of sound, and determining whether high-powered ground-based lasers can effectively destroy enemy satellites.

For one evening in Auburn, California, the taboo was lifted.
Members of the general public got together in a room and openly discussed the crime that the Bush Regime uses to justify everything from the dismantling of the U.S. Constitution, to hideous torture, to war without end; the crime that many Americans remain in denial about - and are too afraid to even look at closely themselves, let alone openly discuss with others.

In the DVD, Jim Hoffman presents conclusive proof that WTC Building 7 and the Twin Towers were NOT brought down as a result of jet-fuel fires as we've been told by the corporate media, but rather imploded (WTC-7) and exploded (The Towers) as controlled demolitions which would take weeks if not months to set up.

Experts conclude Vice President possessed foreknowledge
and suggest Moussaoui trial a "distraction"
(I-Newswire) - Duluth, MN: March 13, 2006 -- A society of experts and scholars contends that the prosecution of Zacarias Moussaoui-- for willfully concealing advance knowledge of the events of 9/11 - has the status of a Soviet-style "show trial" and functions as a diversion from the real culprits. The nonpartisan group, Scholars for 9/11 Truth, asserts that the evidence implicating Vice President Dick Cheney of that very offense is more obvious and compelling. If they are even remotely correct, then the alleged terrorists appear to have been cast in the role of "patsies."
The experts base their conclusion on testimony presented to the 9/11 Commission by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta on May 23, 2003, which was omitted from its final report, and on related events at the Pentagon. Members of the society will present their findings during a press conference to be held at 1 PM on Tuesday at the United States Courthouse in Alexandria, VA, the location of a hearing to determine whether Moussaoui, who is called "the 20th hijacker", should serve a life term or receive the death sentence.
"Mineta's testimony is devastating," observed James H. Fetzer, Ph.D., McKnight Professor at the University of Minnesota. Fetzer is the founder and co-chair of the scholars' society, which recently joined with Judicial Watch in calling for release of documents, films and videos, and physical evidence withheld from the public by the administration. "It pulls the plug on the Commission's contention there was no advance warning that the Pentagon was going to be hit."
According to Secretary Mineta's testimony, which is in the public domain, when he ( Mineta ) arrived at an underground bunker at the White House ( known as the Presidential Emergency Operations Center ), the Vice President was in charge. "During the time that the airplane was coming in to the Pentagon", he stated, "there was a young man who would come in and say to the Vice President, 'The plane is 50 miles out.' 'The plane is 30 miles out.'
"And when it got down to, 'The plane is 10 miles out,'" Mineta continued, "the young man also said to the Vice President, 'Do the orders still stand?' And the Vice President turned and whipped his neck around and said, 'Of course the orders still stand. Have you heard anything to the contrary?'"
"The only reasonable interpretation of the orders," Fetzer observed, "is that the incoming aircraft should not be shot down".
Philip J. Berg, Esq., Former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania, added, "Those who made it happen were obviously in the position to know that it was going to happen and therefore could have sounded a warning alarm. The case against Cheney is more powerful than the case against Moussaoui. No one is more culpable than the perpetrators. If Moussaoui deserves the death penalty, what does our Vice President deserve?"
Other members of the society include Robert Bowman, head of the "Star Wars" program in both Democratic and Republican administrations; Morgan Reynolds, former Chief Economist for the Department of Labor in the Bush administration; Andreas von Buelow, former assistant defense minister of Germany; Steven E. Jones, a professor of physics from Brigham Young University and the society's co-chair; and Griffin, a noted theologian and author of The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions.

After two decades, the legacy of the Chernobyl disaster is still casting its poisonous shadow over Britain's countryside. The Department of Health has admitted that more than 200,000 sheep are grazing on land contaminated by fallout from the explosion at the Ukrainian nuclear plant 1,500 miles away. Emergency orders still apply to 355 Welsh farms, 11 in Scotland and nine in England as a result of the catastrophe in April 1986.

The pro-nuclear Time magazine reported in 1989 that perhaps "one billion or more" curies were released, rather than the 50 to 80 million estimated by Russian authorities.5 One curie is the amount of radiation equal to the disintegration of 37 billion atoms ¾ 37 billion becquerels ¾ per second. It is a very large amount of radiation.
"After all, the IAEA is in the business of promoting nuclear energy, not discouraging it. For 10 years the agency has attempted to downplay the consequences of the accident," wrote Alexander R. Sich in a cover story for the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists. The IAEA, still downplaying in 1995, said any increase in cancer caused by Chernobyl would be "undetectable."
Nineteen months after the disaster, in Nov. 1987, the U.S. government officially doubled its estimate of the "background" radiation to which we are exposed every year.
