Editor's Notes:

This election day issue comes with great uncertainty about how far Bush & Company will go to steal another US Election. This time the country, the lawyers, the Democratic Party, seem more ready. And the people, will show up in record numbers in the vast majority for John Kerry to end the Bush coup d'etat and dictatorship of the last four years. Let's do all we can to make this happen.. and never give up!

This is it. If you haven't voted yet, now is the time. Voting is always easier in the morning. You can look up your polling place here.

Even if you're not in a swing state, it's crucial that you vote. John Kerry must win both the electoral and the popular vote to prevent the right wing from challenging his legitimacy.

If you have questions about voting, go to the MoveOnPAC.org website for a list of Frequently Asked Questions. If you have any trouble voting, make a report to the Common Cause hotline at 1-866-MYVOTE1.

Another hotline has been set up by a coalition of nonpartisan groups to deal with the most serious problems on Election Day. 1-866-OUR-VOTE is the "911" of voter suppression hotlines. Please don't call unless your problem is serious enough that you have to talk to a lawyer immediately.

If you're working all day today to get folks out to vote, as part of our Leave No Voter Behind program or otherwise, bless you. Across the nation, millions of us are working around the clock to remove the worst American administration in the last hundred years.

The energy and commitment we are seeing is absolutely awe inspiring. Millions of phone calls. Tens of thousands of volunteers working their neighborhoods to turn out more than a half-million new voters. Thousands of volunteers traveling across the nation to work in swing states. Member-sponsored ads that have reached tens of millions of voters. And more than 500,000 MoveOn members who have contributed to these efforts in just the last few months. It's phenomenal.

As we fight, voter by voter, it's important to step back for a moment and draw strength from our place in history. Because no matter what happens today, this fight is more than a fight against one man. It's a fight for the spirit of democracy in America. And it's a fight we will win.

Once your work this day is done, and you're waiting for the results to come in, we suggest turning off the silly pundits for a few minutes, and taking in the speech we've attached to this email. Last year, Bill Moyers gave this speech at the Take Back America conference. We've found it to be a touchstone. For a moment of inspiration, read his speech below, or listen to the audio stream here:

Thanks for everything you are doing -- for the election today and for the days and years to come.

Voters claim abuse of electoral rolls
Students say they were conned into registering twice
Greg Palast in New York
Sunday October 31, 2004

An Observer investigation in the United States has uncovered widespread allegations of electoral abuse, many of them going uninvestigated despite complaints of what would appear to be criminal attempts to manipulate voter lists.

The allegations, which come just two days before Americans go to the polls in one of the most tightly contested elections in a generation, threaten to plunge Tuesday's count into a legal minefield and overshadow even the elections of 2000.

Weapons Dust Worries Iraqis
Provisional Government Seeks Cleanup; U.S. Downplays Risks
by Thomas D. Williams

Despite assurances from the U.S. military that depleted uranium from exploded munitions does not pose a significant health threat, Iraq's provisional government is asking the United Nations for help cleaning up the low-level radioactive, metal dust spread across local battlefields by U.S. and British forces during the Persian Gulf wars.

The request comes as the United States continues to defend depleted uranium weaponry - prized for its tank-piercing and bunker- or cave-smashing ability - against strong opposition by other countries, scientists and veterans organizations.

Great Britain, a major partner in the coalition now fighting in Iraq, has provided the U.N. with the coordinates where its forces used depleted uranium, also known as DU, in southern Iraq, but the United States has not. Britain and Germany are supplying money to train Iraqis in environmental science. The United Nations plans to survey for DU hot spots from both wars in Iraq and says it needs the coordinates for an effective survey.

Neither British nor U.S. authorities have offered to augment the $4.7 million donated mainly by Japan to the United Nations to evaluate sites of wartime contamination that health experts say threaten the well-being of Iraqi civilians.

3) Unanswered 9/11/01 Questions - Day of the Dead

Day of the Dead: The Haunting of the White House
By Cynthia McKinney and Catherine Austin Fitts
November 1, 2004

Something is rising from the ashes of September 11: the spectre of questions that will haunt our country until answered.

Months after the release of the official 9/11 Commission Report - even as Congress moves to implement its proposals for a radical centralization of security forces - growing numbers of Americans are doubting their own government's account of what really happened on September 11, and how.

>From the first, the Bush Administration resisted investigation and disclosure. Families of September 11 victims were forced to lobby the administration and Congress for a full and independent inquiry. They fought for 14 months, blocked every step of the way by the White House.

The political games reached such a point that the survivors of the worst attack ever on American soil were forced to hold a candlelight vigil in front of the White House. A vigil for the truth.

The White House finally assented in December 2002 to the establishment of an independent commission, under former New Jersey Governor Thomas Kean. Still, the administration pushed for a hand-picked panel, with a narrow focus on intelligence failures and recommendations.

The families demanded a full investigation, posing nearly 400 questions to the Kean Commission. The commissioners said they welcomed these queries. But their final report ignored most of the unanswered questions. Still posted on the website of the September 11 Family Steering Committee, these questions are a stark reminder of the Kean Commission's failures.

Now these same questions have been submitted to the New York Attorney General. Last week, the New York City office of Eliot Spitzer received a citizens' complaint to open a legal inquiry into crimes still unsolved, more than three years later.

So begins the haunting of the White House.

Driven by survivor families, independent researchers, journalists, and a growing number of ordinary citizens, an emergent "9/11 truth movement" has organized several public inquiries into the events of September 11 during the past year. As co-chairs of the first 9/11 Citizens' Commission, held in New York City in September, we were entrusted with answering questions the Kean Commission ignored.

What did we hear? We heard evidence of specific advance warnings about the 9/11 attacks from overseas. We heard about the spiking of FBI terrorism investigations and the lack of response during the attacks by high officials, including George W. Bush, Donald Rumsfeld and the acting Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Richard Myers.

We heard about air toxicity at Ground Zero still afflicting firefighters, first responders, and New York residents - and how, in the days after September 11, the White House intervened to prevent the Environmental Protection Agency from issuing a strong warning that the air in Lower Manhattan was unsafe to breathe.

We also learned that, although there was a stunning abandonment of standard procedure for hijackings and air defense on September 11, the 9/11 Commission Report fails to issue a call for official accountability. As Kean Commission members travel the country to promote the findings of their report, we know many people are standing up to ask them tough questions about these and many other open issues. But ordinary people lack the subpeona powers necessary for a full discovery of the facts. Citizens' investigations can only go so far.

Some of those who testified before us in New York therefore explored the case for a grand-jury investigation. Possible charges included criminal negligence, failure to perform official duties, criminal facilitation, liability for accessorial conduct, conspiracy and obstruction of justice by high-ranking U.S. government officials.

These charges, now raised in the petition to the New York State Attorney General, may sound extreme. But they reflect a growing concern within the public. A Zogby International poll of New York City residents last August showed that 49 percent believe some high officials knew about the attacks in advance and "consciously failed" to take preventive action. 41 percent of state residents overall shared that view.

A full 66 percent of New York City residents in the survey agreed the case of 9/11 should be reopened by Congress - or by Eliot Spitzer. A Congressional inquiry that respects the pressing nature of these questions is long overdue.

And so now we have no recourse but to stand vigil in front of Eliot Spitzer's office. Until the unanswered questions about 9/11 are laid to rest, by a truly independent investigation that does not declare legitimate avenues of inquiry off-limits, they will continue to haunt our country - and whoever sits in the White House next year.

[Excerpt]

Friends,

I hope we all remain concentrated on our actions during this critical election.. Our work, no matter what, will not end November 3rd. Please note that we will gather on November 6th for a FN benefit with music, art, and perspective, in Amherst. More information on this event is posted at FlybyNews.com . Please reply if we want me to send you a PDF email of flyer.

I predict a landslide for Kerry.. with new voters knowing the scoop. How far will Bush push to steal it? I don't know, but he will back down eventually, in the power of the wave of decency and a reality .. 100,000 Iraqi civilians dead is a war of terror.

"Journey to Wissatinnewag" was videotaped at the fall harvest celebration on the Wissatinnewag land near Route 2 in Greenfield, Massachusetts, this 26-minute documentary's soundtrack is accompanied with Native American voices, and the sounds of drumming, singing, and flute music. In the narrative the film tells of the 10,000-12,000 year history of the original inhabitants of this ancient and sacred land where the village of Wissatinnewag was known as a place of peace, trade, common ceremonies, and harvest celebrations for many indigenous nations throughout the Northeast. Native Americans and residents of Greenfield gather together to acknowledge, honor, and give thanks to this long, enduring story of those who lived and died before us. This November 16 there is a vote for "zoning laws" that will again endanger the peace of this land with international commerce that could place more shame on our respect and honor of those here before us. It is now time to join together and protect the burials removed from the Wissatinnewag site 40 years ago. The human, native remains were deposited in the 10-acre parcel known as the White Ash Swamp across the street. What a life-giving opportunity to right some wrongs of the past and lead to an honorable future.

This film will also be shown at the Green Fields Market (Co-op) Friday Nov. 5th at 6:30pm.

It is also shown at various community TV cable stations.

Subject: Springfield 9/11 truth group: Let's meet

Your Organizer, Michael Richardson, sent the following message
to the members of Springfield 9/11 Questions Meetup Group.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Howdy folks,

I've volunteered to be the Springfield (Western Mass) group
"organizer." I'm curious who's out there, where people live,
and therefore where and when we should "meet up." Have people
already met on 9/16?

I've been involved with "9/11 truth" since April, when I read
David Ray Griffin's "The New Pearl Harbor," and have since done
a lot of web work for 911truth.org, helped organize a few
events in Northampton and NYC, and am part of the production
team for a documentary.

I think it'd be excellent to structure meetings around reading
books, and to start, I'd like to propose that we read and
discuss Peter Lance's book "COVER UP: What the government is
still hiding about the war on terror" (Regan Books) It's an
excellent primer on the background of the failures and
corruption of the FBI, and is probably the best piece of
investigative journalism so far on 911. (Lance also wrote the
excellent "1000 Years for Revenge." It's still in hardback,
but you can get copies from amazon for under $20.

We could discuss the book, the implications, and, of course,
the 911 situation vis a vis the election. By the time we meet,
there'll be a rats next of legal battles going on ---- But good
news: Elliot Spitzer's office (NY Atty. General) has agreed to
pursue a new, criminal investigation of 9/11 with a focus on
the possible complicity/criminal negligence of U.S. gov't
officials.

Drop me a line and let me know who's out there, and let's meet.
I could come down to Springfield, or, if most people are north
of there, we could meet here in Northampton -- wherever is most
convenient for the quorum.

Best,
Michael Richardson
Northampton
