Editor's Notes:

Truth is truth and lies are lies. How simple, and how tangled is the mess from all the lies and the influence of money and corruption, bringing death and sorrow to many true patriots, and innocent families. Item 1 is old news to most, but the source and timing is important. Last Wednesday, Sixty-Minutes 2 aired an interview with Greg Thielmann, who was a former expert on Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. Thielmann was a foreign-service officer for 25 years and stated that Secretary of State, Colin Powell changed course and his Feb. 5, 2003 UN speech presented questionable evidence against Saddam and Iraq. Thielmann said that he believes the decision to go to war was made first, and then the intelligence was interpreted to fit that conclusion. Well, what is new, and now Bush is going around the country to spin local media stations to his mentality of a shortened version of life's survival in the 21st Century. In item 2, if you haven't yet, please read this formal announcement of Dennis John Kucinich for US President in 2004. Please consider forwarding the URL link to the full transcript everywhere possible. This speech offers hope and an opportunity to choose light rather than hiding in the darkness. Following excerpts to this announcement is a piece by David Crockett Williams on Dennis' statement, "when the laws of the American Natives were excluded." What does this mean? David shares his thouhts, and some background on the Indigenous influence in the creating of the US Constitution. Yet the issue of Dennis is not just a national issue or continental issue. As this following letter by Kehla eloquently shares:

Subject: Rep. Dennis Kucinich and John McDonnell MP - UK
"..I am an Italian woman living in Berlin (Germany) and deeply involved in supporting Kucinich's Campaign for US-Presidency. I am sure, you'll agree, when I say that this Planet has never before reached such critical point, and that Kucinich is the *Only One* able and willing to save this Planet and all of us.

When I say "US" I mean not only my most beloved Friends in USA, but all of US (= United Souls), inclusive those people unfortunately still mentally trapped in the manipulation and machinations of World Leaders attempting to carry on their dark agenda.

We, the people of this Planet that went down to the streets saying NO to war and asking for Peace, we now Want Kucinich as US-President, and He still *IS* our President. And it is important that Kucinich - His own schedule permitting - travels around and visits other countries, so that more people might know, that what they hoped for has now become a reality.

Thank you, Mr. Gordon, I trust you will do your best concerning this meeting of Kucinich and McDonnell in the UK.

May God bless all of us,

Item 3 is an article and links about the inspirational Coleen Rowley, "..the Minneapolis FBI agent who accused bureau headquarters of bungling chances to foil the Sept. 11 attacks, is criticizing the Bush administration for "whittling away our civil liberties."'

With people like Coleen Rowley and Dennis Kucinich around, America is made safer, and offers us a chance to unite with the world for peace and cooperation.

Please note that campaigns and events at is often updated, and now has a new link to a site for a live feed to the World Uranium Weapons conference, being held in Hamburg now.

Please, too, keep attentive to the October 31st deadline in New Hampshire to convince any Republicans, Greens, Libertarians, or other party members to change before Halloween to vote in the Democratic Primary for Dennis Kucinich. The can change back later, but now - Make A Difference! Join the telephone banking campaign for New Hamsphire and Dennis to lead the way for a nuclear free, safe, and healthier world.

1) The Man Who Knew Powell Lied

Sixty Minutes 2 - CBS News

The Man Who Knew
Oct. 15, 2003

In the run-up to the war in Iraq, one moment seemed to be a turning point: the day Secretary of State Colin Powell went to the United Nations to make the case for the invasion.

Millions of people watched as he laid out the evidence and reached a damning conclusion -- that Saddam Hussein was in possession of weapons of mass destruction.

Correspondent Scott Pelley has an interview with Greg Thielmann, a former expert on Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. Thielmann, a foreign-service officer for 25 years, now says that key evidence in the speech was misrepresented and the public was deceived..

..Thielmann's last job at the State Department was director of the Office of Strategic Proliferation and Military Affairs, which was responsible for analyzing the Iraqi weapons threat for Secretary Powell. He and his staff had the highest security clearances, and everything whether it came into the CIA or the Defense Department came through his office..

..On Feb. 5, 2003, Secretary Powell presented evidence against Saddam to the U.N., and the speech represented a change in Powell's thinking. Before 9/11, he said Saddam had "not developed any significant capability in weapons of mass destruction." But two years later, he warned that Saddam had stockpiled those very weapons.

"The gravity of this moment is matched by the gravity of the threat that Iraq's weapons of mass destruction pose to the world," said Powell.

At the time of Powell's speech, Thielmann says that Iraq didn't pose an imminent threat to anyone: "I think it didn't even constitute an imminent threat to its neighbors at the time we went to war."

But Thielmann also says that he believes the decision to go to war was made first, and then the intelligence was interpreted to fit that conclusion. For example, he points to the evidence behind Powell's charge that Iraq was importing aluminum tubes to use in a program to build nuclear weapons.

Powell said: "Saddam Hussein is determined to get his hands on a nuclear bomb. He is so determined that he has made repeated covert attempts to acquire high-specification aluminum tubes from 11 different countries even after inspections resumed."

"This is one of the most disturbing parts of Secretary Powell's speech for us," says Thielmann.

Intelligence agents intercepted the tubes in 2001, and the CIA said they were parts for a centrifuge to enrich uranium - fuel for an atom bomb. But Thielmann wasn't so sure. Experts at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the scientists who enriched uranium for American bombs, advised that the tubes were all wrong for a bomb program. At about the same time, Thielmann's office was working on another explanation. It turned out the tubes' dimensions perfectly matched an Iraqi conventional rocket.

"The aluminum was exactly, I think, what the Iraqis wanted for artillery," recalls Thielmann, who says he sent that word up to the Secretary of State months before..

..After the war, the White House said the African uranium claim was false and shouldn't have been in the address. But at the time, it was part of a campaign that painted the intelligence as irrefutable.

"There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction. There is no doubt he is amassing them to use against our friends, against our allies, and against us," said Cheney.

But if there was no doubt in public, Thielmann says there was plenty of doubt in the intelligence community. He says the administration took murky information out of the gray area and made it black and white..

..As for Greg Thielmann, he told 60 Minutes II that he's a reluctant witness. His decision to speak developed over time, and he says the president's address worried him because he knew the African uranium story was false. He said he watched Secretary Powell's speech with disappointment because, up until then, he had seen Powell bringing what he called "reason" to the administration's inner circle.

Today, Thielmann believes the decision to go to war was made -- and the intelligence was interpreted to fit that conclusion.

"There's plenty of blame to go around. The main problem was that the senior administration officials have what I call faith-based intelligence. They knew what they wanted the intelligence to show," says Thielmann.

"They were really blind and deaf to any kind of countervailing information the intelligence community would produce. I would assign some blame to the intelligence community, and most of the blame to the senior administration officials."

The administration wants to spend several hundred million dollars more to continue the search for evidence..

Dennis John Kucinich Formal Announcement Speech
Cleveland, Ohio Monday, October 13, 2003

Thank you for joining me for this important moment, not only for myself but for the Cleveland community. My brothers and sisters will remember this story. There is a fiery torch which lights the night skies over our beloved Cleveland. It rises from the furnace of a steel mill. I remember a time when that light played against the interior of our car. As a young child I pressed my face against the car window and watched as the flame reached up. It filled me with wonder, it gave me a spark of hope. It made me forget that my mom and dad, my brothers and sisters, all seven of us, were living in that car. Light has the power to enkindle dreams. And though we lived in 21 different places by the time I was 17, including a couple of cars, I breathed in the image of blazing light and I breathe it out at this very moment..

..This moment, this moment, which evolved as the dream of an inner city child who once lived in a car, to become President of the United States celebrates not my potential but the creative potential of each and every child to be somebody, to be loved, to serve, to lead, to be carried into the myth and magic of the express power of the American Dream and our responsibility to make each child's dreams come true..

..Our work for peace will be strengthened when we repair breaks within our own society. Today, is the day to remind ourselves of the necessity of healing the grief with Native Americans, who were dispossessed when exploration turned to exploitation, and when the laws of the American Natives were excluded in the cause of all Americans. I have joined Congressman John Conyer's call to study reparations for those whose African American ancestors suffered enslavement. And let me tell you why I've done that- because we must recognize the debilitating effects of slavery which are with us still, the debilitating effects of racism which still exist. We must recognize this because so many of our African American brothers and sisters are locked still in prisons of poverty, substandard housing, unemployment, run-down schools, without health care, without hope. I know this. And my brother Gary, my brother Frank, my brother Larry, my sister Terry, my sister Beth, my brother Perry- We know this, because often we were the only Caucasian family living in a community of color. We know this.

This is not only about repairing the breach for African Americans, this is about healing our world, this is about what is called in the Jewish faith tikkun olam. We must heal the breach.. We must begin this process of reconciliation and healing. We must be repairers of the breach, and we can help to repair the breach by having a nation which stands for jobs for all, health care for all, education for all. Let's use this as a moment to lift up America!..

..And I'm running for President to break the shackles of fear which have deprived our citizens of rights. The passage of the Patriot Act was an abomination and as President I intend to lead the effort to repeal it. We need to regain the trust of the American people and we need to have a government which trusts the American people. This war threatens our civil liberties, our civil freedoms, our economic freedoms. The rising budget deficit, at national and state levels, will continue to mount with the continued occupation. Meanwhile, absolutely no attention is being paid to a rising trade deficit which is now approaching 450 billion dollars.

Americans have lost 3 million manufacturing jobs since July of 2000. NAFTA and the WTO have facilitated the movement of jobs out of America. Because you know and I know: corporations move where they can pay workers less. Corporations move where workers don't have rights, where nations provide little legal protection. America can change that. America can set new rules for trade, but to do that you must set aside NAFTA and the WTO. I'm running for President to cancel NAFTA and the WTO. This is about fair trade. People ask: what will you do next? We return to bilateral trade. Everyone wants access to our market. We can help set the rules, and through setting the rules we can lift up the cause of all workers. And how can we do that specifically? We must put into our new bilateral trade agreements workers rights, the right to organize, the right to collective bargaining, the right to strike, the right to decent wages and benefits, the right to a safe workplace, the right to a secure retirement. We can put those into our trade agreements. We can protect American workers, and we can lift the cause of workers all over this world, and it is time to do that..

..And we can create new jobs, too, with a new approach to health care. We know how many places in America, where businesses are laying off employees because they can no longer afford the cost of health care, where employees are seeing cutbacks in their health care benefits, because of a health care system that is no longer about people. Last month, I introduced a bill which takes the profit out of health care, together with John Conyers and Jim McDermott. This proposal brings to the American people a universal, single-payer system, Medicare for all. It is time for health care for people, not for profit. You know. You know. You know and I know that insurance companies make money not providing health care. They make money by stopping people from getting the care they need. They make money by making insurance agents more powerful than doctors. They make money because they are interested only in profit..

..People ask me, "Oh, sounds great. How can you do this?" We are already paying for universal health care. We're not getting it. Why aren't we getting it? Because the health care dollar involves stock options, executive salaries, high profits, lobbying, marketing, advertising, the high cost of paper work! We want the health care dollar to go into caring for people and that is exactly what this proposal does. No more bankruptcies for health care. No more health care poverty in America. No more premiums, no more co-pays, no more deductibles. We are already paying for universal health care, we're not getting it.

It's time, America and it's time, too, to make corporations accountable to the American people; to require that they tell the truth to their shareholders; to require that they tell the truth to their investors; to require that they tell the truth to their employees, to their retirees; that they tell the truth. And I will bring to the Presidency of the United States, an independence to insist on a higher standard of conduct for Wall Street and its captains. It was a century ago when America had a president, Theodore Roosevelt, who took on the trusts of his era; who challenged the monopolies of his time. I say that now is the time to, once again, break up the monopolies and restore competition in our economy. And we must do so again on behalf of small businesses, and on behalf of family farmers. And as president, I will move to break up the monopolies in agriculture, which strangle the market from seed to shelf. And to make sure that our family farmers are able to get their product to market and get the price that they are entitled to.

Of course as Peter, and C.J., and Jay and others have pointed out, I have some experience in dealing with monopolies. It was here. It was here in this very Council Chambers, 25 years ago that I had the privilege of stopping the sale of Cleveland's municipal electric system. And stopping the takeover of our public power by a utility monopoly because I recognized then, as I recognize now, that it matters how much people pay for electricity. That's why I fought to make sure that the people of this community would be able to have access to cheaper power.

I'll share with you a story from that time 25 years ago. The very day that I said "no" to the sale of our municipal electric system- on December the 15th, 1978- I was thinking, brothers and sisters, Frank and Gary: I was thinking about when we lived above Martha's Delicatessen at 10712 St. Clair. And I was thinking about Mom and Dad sitting at the kitchen table counting the pennies so they would have money to pay the utility bill. I can still hear those pennies dropping -|click, click, click on that tabletop. I could hear that on that day when I was asked to sell Cleveland's municipal electric system. Oh, I want all of you to know that I remember where I came from. I want all of you to know that. Because, there are so many families in America, so many families struggling to hold on to their homes, to hold on to their health care, to hold on to their retirement security, to hold on to their education funds, that it matters how much people pay for electricity, for gas, for home heating oil, for food, for health care, for education. These kitchen-table issues always bring us "home" if we know where home is.

Cleveland is my home. Cleveland is where my heart resides. Cleveland is where my dreams started. Cleveland is where I've learned the lessons I want to share with every American: The lesson that one person can make a difference; the lesson that anyone can, and anyone should be able to rise from humble beginnings to lead a nation; the lesson that we can change the outcome; the lesson of the power of the human heart, and the power of the human spirit to transform the world. I have seen miracles. I have seen the people of Cleveland create miracles. During my career you have helped me to save a municipal electric system when it was already sold. You have helped me to keep hospitals open when they were already closed. You have helped me to save a steel mill, to help keep that bright light burning over the industrial valley when other communities' hopes were extinguished. Because of you, because of you, because of you, I know the power of hope, the power of optimism, the power of light!

Years ago, my grandfather, John Kucinich, now the name was spelled K-u-c-i-n-i-c. When he came over on the boat, they added the "h". A lot of names were changed there: K-u-c-i-n-i-c. When he came over, because he pronounced it "Kuchinich", they added the "h" on. So now, Gary, anytime somebody tells me to "get the h out of there," I think they're talking about my grandfather. And my grandfather, when he traveled from Croatia as a very young man, he traveled to Ellis Island, and he was welcomed by a light as well. He was welcomed by the light of Liberty. The Statue of Liberty that holds its lamp high, and on the base of the Statue of Liberty, there's that inscription by Emma Lazarus: "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores. Send these tempest-tossed, to me. I lift my lamp, beside the golden door". The tens of millions who journeyed to this nation, from other lands, connect us in fact and in spirit to the entire world. And in this campaign they connect us to the highest aspirations of everyone who ever journeyed here. To become full partners, Peter Lawson Jones, full partners in the life of our nation.

So, by the lights which guided my grandfather to America; by the light still shining celebrating public power; by the lights which still emblazon the sky over Cleveland's steel valley, I stand here, ready to light up America. I am Dennis John Kucinich and I am running for President of the United States!

- - "when the laws of the American Natives were excluded"

What did Rep. Kucinich mean by these words in his below address in the city council chambers in Cleveland Ohio where he served as mayor before election to Congress? He chose the October 13, 2003, Columbus Day Holiday, after eight months of campaigning for the Democratic Presidential nomination, to "formally announce" his candidacy for President of The United States. One will note in watching the video of this extemporaneous talk made with frequent glances at his notes, that when he speaks these few above words on this occasion, his demeanor is most unusual because these few words condense so much into them as they slowly "popped out of his mouth from somewhere" during what appears to be his struggle with a long "pregnant pause" for "the right words for the occasion".

The United States system of government was patterned in large part by its founding fathers, who had only known the system of monarchy in their personal lives, on their evaluation of the Haudenosaunee, the American Native Culture of Peace known to themselves as "The People of The Long House," to the French speakers as the Iroquois, and to the English speakers as The Six Nations Confederacy.

The Haudenosaunee Culture of Peace brought together many nations before they were "discovered" by Benjamin Franklin, et al, who tried to pattern the US system after this working model precedent of a culture of government "by the people and for the people" based on the sacred teachings of The Great Law of Peace, The Tree of Peace, and the Wampum as Objects of Veneration symbolizing these sacred teachings brought a millennium ago forming Haudenosaunee by the one known as The Peacemaker whose life story, like that of Jesus Christ, features the immaculate conception origin of his life. But the founding fathers did not understand the sanctity of the Wampum and saw it as just "Indian money". The saw that all the leaders were men, but they did not appreciate that these were each chosen by a council of women to whom they were responsible and at whose pleasure they served.. The founding fathers did not understand the principle of land as a sacred trust for human beings to keep in a sacred way for the benefit of all. Instead, "they" thought they "bought Manhattan for a handful of beads," while the native peoples thought these beads were Wampum of sacred trust of friendship and understanding among themselves for cooperation and mutual respect of one another and the land.

Yes, the United States of America "left out" The Great Law of Peace.

Now someone has come to bring humanity home to peace,"

3) FBI Agent speaks out against Ashcroft

FBI's Rowley pulls no punches in critique of Ashcroft
By Greg Gordon

[Excerpt] For complete article, see:

Published October 12, 2003

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Coleen Rowley, the Minneapolis FBI agent who accused bureau headquarters of bungling chances to foil the Sept. 11 attacks, is criticizing the Bush administration for "whittling away our civil liberties."

In an opinion piece published in today's Star Tribune,

Rowley takes issue with U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft's assertion in a Twin Cities speech last month that America "is freer today than at any time in the history of human freedom."

"Well, this American disagrees!" Rowley wrote.

She contends that the administration's "us versus them" mentality in fighting terrorism is intimidating Americans and fueling anti-Arab feelings..

..But Rowley wrote: "The intimidation in this country that's been whipped up by this official fear and warmongering has been far more effective than any Patriot Act in whittling away our civil liberties."

She said Ashcroft "is not above using this technique to lump those who disagree with him in with the terrorists to thereby discourage debate." She cited his post-Sept. 11 comment that critics of expanded law enforcement powers "give ammunition to America's enemies."

In a brief phone conversation, Rowley said she received pre-publication clearance from FBI headquarters before submitting the op-ed piece to the Star Tribune's editorial page staff.

It is rare for an FBI agent to publicly criticize an attorney general, who serves as the nation's top law enforcement officer. But FBI spokesman Bill Carter stressed that "it's not unusual for agents to write pieces for either newspapers or publications. . . . FBI agents, just like other citizens, have the right to free speech and they can express their opinions."

Rowley was named one of Time magazine's three "Persons of the Year" in 2002 for her decision to criticize FBI headquarters' handling of the pre-Sept. 11 investigation of Zacarias Moussaoui. In a stinging letter to Mueller and in congressional testimony, she criticized bureau counter-terrorism supervisors for rejecting Minneapolis agents' requests for a national security warrant allowing a search of Moussaoui's possessions. A post-Sept. 11 search turned up clues linking Moussaoui to Al-Qaida operatives..

..While she has avoided disciplinary action for her speeches and writings to date, she notes in her opinion piece that "it's no secret that this administration has used its considerable power to fight giving any real legal protection to government whistleblowers."

She said she relies on the First Amendment, though "the official warnings along these lines that I've repeatedly received in the course of my attempts to speak on issues of public importance seem little more than veiled threats."

A mother of four who is her family's sole breadwinner, Rowley is a 22-year FBI veteran. She will not become eligible for a pension until she turns 50 in December 2004.
